Matthew Carmody wins ACT Law Society Innovation Award for OX Rooms

In May 2025, the ACT Law Society announced the recipients of its 2025 Service to Law Awards, honouring outstanding achievement and contribution to the ACT legal profession. Among this year’s distinguished award winners was Matthew Carmody, General Manager and Co-Founder of OX Rooms, who received the ACT Law Society Service Award for Innovation in recognition of his leadership in modernising and securing the conveyancing process.

Mr Carmody, already a three-time winner of the REIACT Solicitor of the Year Award, co-founded OX Rooms to address the long-standing inefficiencies and risks inherent in property transactions. OX Rooms is a secure, centralised digital workroom enabling lawyers, agents, buyers, and sellers to share documents, track progress in real time, and coordinate seamlessly—reducing delays, eliminating version-control issues, and increasing transparency.

A key component of this innovation is the uplifting of cyber security standards for all participating conveyancers, agents, and their clients—at no cost to firms. By replacing insecure, fragmented email chains with an enterprise-grade, encrypted platform, OX Rooms mitigates the risk of phishing, fraud, and data breaches, protecting stakeholders intransactions that often involve millions of dollars.

"Until now, digital tools available to lawyers and agents for secure collaboration have been limited," said Mr Carmody. "OXRooms fills that gap, making the conveyancing process faster, clearer, and more secure for everyone involved."

  • Debra Parker, Parker Coles Curtis – In recognition of her valuable contributions to leadership and excellence in family law and dispute resolution.
  • These awards collectively recognise the depth of skill, dedication, and leadership within the ACT legal community.

A Continuing Commitment to Excellence and Security

For Mr Carmody, the Innovation Award is a significant milestone but also a call to continue driving change. "This is just the start," he noted. "Our focus remains on improving well-being, security, client experience, efficiency, and accuracy in every property transaction."

OX Rooms extends its congratulations to all 2025 award recipients and reaffirms its commitment to raising industry standards, protecting client interests, and delivering best-in-class tools to the legal profession.
